Fjord is a text serif typeface, designed with book publications in mind. It is intended to setting long texts in small print size. Prominent serifs, low-contrast modulation and the proportions improves the typeface’s readability in small sizes. But through the original construction and carefully designed details Fjord also becomes distinctive in bigger sizes. The typeface has been started under a name Young as Viktoriya Grabowska’s graduation project at Sign and Typography Studio at Academy of  Fine Arts in Poznań (supervisor: Krzysztof Kochnowicz). It was awarded at Central European Review of Design Graduation Projects. The Regular weight (Basic Latin + Polish diacritics) is available at Google Web Fonts under a name Fjord One for free. Italic and Bold weights are in development. Fjord Pro will be distributed by Sorkin Type Co.
